Research Interests and Publications

Research interests include: bilingualism, heritage language, sociolinguistics, and phonetics

Research Statement:

The current landscape of academic research in French sociolinguistics exhibits a notable paucity of scholars who specialize in the intricacies of Indochinese languages and cultures. My scholarly aspiration is to establish a significant presence in this academic domain, leveraging my expertise and research endeavors to contribute substantially to the discourse surrounding Lao representation within the field of French linguistics. By doing so, I aim to pave the way for future scholars, ensuring that their inquiries into this topic yield a more robust body of literature than my own initial exploration.

My research agenda is twofold. Firstly, I seek to delve deeper into the enduring colonial influences on both written and spoken Lao, shedding light on the intricate ways in which the French colonial legacy has shaped this linguistic landscape. Simultaneously, I am committed to the critical endeavor of decolonizing the prevailing linguistic paradigms surrounding Lao, thus fostering a more inclusive and accurate understanding of this complex language and culture within the broader context of French linguistics.

Publications to come.
